A Glass of Red

Oil on panel, 10 x 8 inches (25 x 20 cm)

Gearing for my annual holiday card, with the usual "Santa's snack" theme. Perhaps this year Santa will enjoy a nice red wine, or maybe a bourbon on the rocks, along with some slices of beef, or cheese, or maybe some oysters?

Ongoing portrait head

At this stage I am checking to make sure that the head is approximately the same size as the other heads in the series. Things tend to decrease in size as I work on them so the head must be plenty large enough before I start getting into details.
Many sculptors do not like the plastilene I use because it is rather unpleasantly sticky, but I find the tactile problem worth putting up with. The plastilene is very hard and waxlike when cool, so you have to warm it in order to work with it, but when it cools down your work is nicely preserved for building on later. With softer plastilenes I often found I had to redo earlier work.

A Brief Return to Sculpting

A late addition to a series of bronze busts I did some years ago requires my return to the modeling studio. The subject is Dr. Gordon Christensen. Just getting started here.

Prince Charles (in progress)

Uil on canvas paper, 16 x 12 inches (40.6 x 30.5 cm)

I like just about everything about Prince Charles, including his face, and I thought it would be an interesting experiment to portray someone well-known.

Yellow Rose in a Blue Bowl

Oil on panel, 5 x 7 inches(13 x 18 cm)

On the occasion of our twenty-fourth anniversary I painted my wife a flower, rather than giving a bouquet of flowers.
