Plein air painting at Oatlands

Today I joined the Loudon Sketch Club at Oatlands, a beautiful historic home near Leesburg, Virginia for painting and drawing on the grounds. They are a nice bunch of talented artists. Today I did an underpainting using complements of the natural colors (brick red becomes blue-green, blue becomes orange, greens become purples, violets and pinks). When I paint the real colors on top of these on a later visit, I hope to acheive an interesting, vibrant play of colors.
