Falls Tavern Sycamore
12 x 12 inches (30.5 x 30.5 cm), oil on panel
Since a prominent feature in my previous day's painting was the lock gate mechanism in the foreground and since the lock keeper opened the gate to let a canal boat pass through the lock and since the scene I had been painting was therefore radically altered, I decided to start a new painting. This one is unfinished, too, and I am still groping around hoping the painting will tell me what it wants to be. Walt Bartman says he gropes a lot in his paintings, too.
