Cool-Skinned Emily
Oil on wood, 9 x 12 inches (23 x 31 cm)
The model's body was very evenly lit, so the absence of light and shadow meant modeling of the 3-dimensional forms was challenging, but I made some discoveries with this painting and the previous one of Brian. I have to look for ever more subtle variations in color and value. Also, brush stroke direction can help imply the ins and outs of the forms.
